Slow Carb Shopping List

My first ever slow carb shopping trip

It took me to a few areas of the supermarket I don’t usually visit, and was surprising cheaper than my usual shopping trip considering I did have to buy a lot of canned goods.

As I become more used to this I may give the more natural dried beans a go and see if they are worth swapping out.


  • 1 lt Frozen egg whites
  • 1 dozen eggs
  • 1kg Chicken breast
  • 2kg minced meat
  • 2 steaks
  • 2 Fresh Atlantic salmon steaks
  • 4 Capsicums
  • 1 Iceberg lettuce
  • 1 Packet mixed salad leaves
  • 250g Diced ham
  • 1 Bunch of shallots
  • 6 Zucchini
  • 400g Green beans
  • 1 Packet carrots
  • 2 Cucumbers
  • 1 Punnet of cherry tomatoes
  • 2 large jars of pasata
  • Fresh corriander, basil & oregano
  • 2 Cans butter beans
  • 2 Cans 4 bean mix
  • 2 x Cans red kidney beans
  • 2 x Cans chick peas
  • 1 Packet dried red lentils

This all came in for around $200. This is about the same amount that we spend on our usual weekly shop but we’ll see later on if I can cut that down a little further.

I have a pretty well stocked spice rack so if this isn’t like you, you may want to pick up a selection of Indian & Moroccan type spices as well.
